We all have a part to play in the next four years, making sure that those of us with power, privilege, and a voice speak up and act out all members of the queer community.
In the two weeks since Donald Trump emerged victorious on Election Day, there’s been a lot of chatter — among Democrats, among voters, and among the commentariat — about what went wrong and how the Democratic Party should start thinking about appealing to the elusive middle-ground voter by, among other things, jettisoning social causes to which it has remained wed for the past several cycles.
Unsurprisingly, one of the first groups offered up as a sacrifice to the ravenous maw of public opprobrium were, of course, trans folks.
Almost as soon as the election was called there was a vociferous chorus from all sorts of people pointing to Vice President Harris’ support of trans rights as a key factor in her loss (as well as that of other Democrats).
