‘All of Us Strangers’ is one of the greatest movies I have seen. The main characters portrayed in the movie are gay, but it is a film many will identify with.

I have seen the film twice and will probably view it again. I expected I might feel different on the second viewing, but the emotional impact was the same as the first viewing.

‘All of Us Strangers’ explores the unbearable loneliness of being, our need for belonging, and our acceptance of ourselves and others’ acceptance of us. It also shows how these two facets are intertwined.

It is a poetic contemplation of our existence, particularly for LGBTQ+ individuals, but it extends beyond this to the alienation of the self in the modern world. The Film has many wonderful facets, including the hypnotic imagery conveyed through close-ups of the characters’ faces and the lighting. The atmosphere created in the Film is emotionally gripping.

The acting is outstanding. Andrew Scott won the London Film Critics Award for Best Actor, Paul Mescal won the British/Irish Performer of the Year award, and the Film won the British/Irish Film of the Year award. Honestly, I don’t understand why the Academy Awards ignored this film. It is superior to all the nominated films.
