Calling Cisgender Allies: It’s Time for Mischief and Disobedience
Help us fight back against trans bathroom bans
Trans people in the UK may soon be required to use bathrooms according to their sex assigned at birth. The ironically named Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) recently published draft guidance on single sex spaces, which, if approved by parliament, would amount to a trans bathroom ban.
Following a sham public consultation on the draft guidance, it was leaked that the EHRC intends to ignore many responses and use AI to review them in place of humans.
I never thought we’d follow the US and their ridiculous bathroom bills, but here we are.
As a feminine-presenting AFAB (assigned female at birth) non-binary person, this guidance is unlikely to directly affect me. But that doesn’t mean I can’t cause some mischief in my day-to-day life. The guidance is in itself ridiculous, so challenging it demands some creative disobedience.
If the Equality and Human Rights Commission were going to play daft buggers, then so was I. They really hadn’t thought this through.
Ask any TERF (trans exclusionary radical feminist) about the EHRC guidance, and they…
