Cisgender, straight women, can you all come to the front, please? We need to have a talk.

As a fellow cis woman, isn’t the female experience hard enough? We already exist and suffer at the hands of our capitalistic, patriarchal, male-centric society, so why do many of you insist on standing in the way of those who wish to embark on their own personal transition into womanhood?

If someone knowingly chooses to embark on this journey, knowing the risks and obstacles already in the way, we should welcome them with open arms.

With anti-LGBTQIA+ rhetoric, laws, and overall prejudice running rampant in the world, where does the violence and hate end?

According to the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) for fatal violence against transgender people and gender-expansive communities:

  • 68% of victims were people of color
  • 32% were Black transgender women
  • 53% were killed with a gun
  • 50% of victims knew their killer and were killed by a romantic/sexual partner, friend, or family member
  • 32% were misgendered or deadnamed by authorities or the press
