Titans of Hate: Canada’s Anti-Trans Conservatives Begin to Implode

Open racism, 24/7 grievance politics, and an anti-trans culture war led to the defeat of Manitoba’s Conservatives and the timely victory of the New Democratic Party and an Indigenous Premier

Manitobans went to the polls on October 3rd, and the people of the province had a message: they told Premier Heather Stefanson and the governing Progressive Conservatives to take a long walk off a short pier.

Consequently, Stefanson has stepped down as leader of the party.

I previously wrote about her bid for reelection.

How she ran on a campaign of open racism, leaving Indigenous murder victims to rot in a landfill. Thumbing her nose at the entire epidemic of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.

How real, quantifiable reconciliation with Indigenous people can be damned if it costs, you know, money rather than thoughts and prayers.

And how she brought Manitoba into the anti-trans culture war simply because she could.

Victory on the night went to Wab Kinew and the pro-social New Democratic Party. More on that later.
