Anybody else sick and tired of an ongoing, irrational moral panic over drag queens?

Over the past few weeks, I’ve covered stories about a bakery driven out of business over a night of drag bingo, a church hit with molotov cocktails over a drag benefit, and patrons outside a drag-queen story hour beaten by queer-hating white supremacists while local cops stood by and let the beatings happen.

And that’s just for starters.

Today’s story is a humdinger of hypocrisy. I hope it opens some eyes, because the anti-LGBTQ backlash sure is getting scary.

Opposition to drag queens — especially to drag queens reading stories in libraries — serves as a proxy for surging, irrational hatred of LGBTQ people.
