The anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric continues to ramp up in Florida. Just when you think the Sunshine State has done all it can to make queer people feel unwanted, they double down.

Recently, Florida quietly wiped LGBTQ travel advice from its Visit Florida website. There was no fanfare or media uproar. It was done quietly. In fact, no one knows when the Florida visitor website removed the section for LGBTQ travel.

Governor Ron DeSantis has been on a mission since he was elected to vilify Florida’s LGBTQ+ community. First, it was “Don’t Say Gay,” the law he supported to ban discussion of gender identity and sexual orientation in the classroom. Then there was a ban on gender-affirming care for young people but targeting all trans Floridians.

DeSantis pushed for a law to cancel Drag Storytime that subsequently made it illegal for children to attend “adult performances,” specifically any performance that features drag. As a result, at least one community canceled its Pride celebrations, fearing reprisals if there were any children along the parade route.
