Gay Republican George Santos Disgraces LGBTQ+ Community

There are a variety of reasons that Medium is the sole platform I use for my writing. One of those reasons is the freedom to write informative pieces where I can sprinkle my own opinion throughout. I am not bound to write just the facts as a neutral party and can assess the facts I am writing about based upon my own ideals.

This article is an example of my love of that freedom. As I began researching George Santos, the Republican House of Representatives candidate running in this November’s elections, my stomach turned sour. We see LGBTQ+ people fighting for their basic rights daily in the country and we are trying desperately to turn the tide of Republican right-wing extremism.

All of that to end up with a goddamn traitor fighting against us.

George Santos is not only a Republican who supports Trump, he is a gay man. A gay man with a fiancee and four dogs, who lives on Long Island and is the first generation among his family born in the United States, as his parents immigrated from Brazil.
