Here Are Five Romantic Christmas Movies for Women Who Love Women
& all free to watch!

Hallmark released their first lesbian Christmas movie last year and it had everyone in a frenzy. It was cute, cozy, and surprisingly a lot of fun. It was the first time I felt seen in a holiday movie and I wanted to continue finding queer Christmas movies to enjoy. I wanted light-hearted, hopeful, and loving movies because if you are like me, you have cried many sapphic tears for far too long. So grab some hot cocoa and watch these Christmas movies with me!
Also disclaimer, these movies are focused on AFAB (assigned female at birth; someone who does not identify as the label “female” given to them at birth) lesbians. But anyone who identifies as a woman who loves women, can enjoy them regardless of label. I tried to pick mostly free movies to enjoy, so they are accessible to everyone (in most regions).
1. Friends and Family Christmas

An up-and-coming photographer, Dani, is trying to get her big break. While doing so, she puts way too many things on her plate. So much so that she can’t even see her parents for Christmas. They ask her to do one favor: meet her dad’s friend’s daughter for coffee. Amelia, the dad’s friend’s daughter, has been low since her breakup with her ex. Her dad is concerned and sets her up with Dani, because he knows she is single too. They both agree it was a strictly platonic meeting. However, Amelia comes up with a genius plan to solve everyone’s problems.
Friends and Family Christmas has all the trademarks of the perfect escapist romance movie: meddling family, beautiful setting, and all the sweet, cozy feels of a Hallmark movie. This movie is by far the most Christmasy on the list, so if you want to get in the spirit, I suggest watching this. I talk more about the movie in this article. You can find it on Hallmark+, which offers a 7-day free trial, and the subscription price is $7.99 after the week trial is over. You can also check out Jonathan Bennett’s Christmas movie, The Holiday Sitter, to support other LGBTQ+ people on Hallmark this holiday season.
