I Still Believe That You Are Good

While voices all around me claim to speak for you
With bias and exclusion in their words,
Though violence committed in your name is multiplying,
I still believe that you are good.
When I was young, I first met you and knew that you were good.
We walked together in the garden underneath the trees,
And in the deep of night you stood between me and my fears…
