I Waltzed with Prince Charming on My Transatlantic Trans Cinderella Cruise

I have been writing a series of my experiences as a transgender woman on a transatlantic cruise (see the series below). I intended to stop because I was worried that I was beginning to get boring or, worse, writing narcissistically, but I was encouraged by my editor and friend, James Finn, to continue. He felt that the joy of this moment on my transgender journey was worth sharing during a time of LGBTQ darkness.

With that thought in mind, the cruise continues.

I danced with a man, as a woman.

I let him lead and it felt wonderful.

It was a waltz, a totally LGBTQ waltz. He was gay, and I was a transgender woman, but a gentleman asked a lady to dance and so we did.

That’s all that mattered to me.

I have been waiting a lifetime for that dance. I thought it would never happen. I thought that it would stay a childhood dream hidden from everyone because I was born and raised in a male body with a heart and soul of a woman.

Fantasies don’t come true, but this one did.

I have fought decades of socially enforced gender denial, a brutally painful period of gender dysphoria littered with…
