There are so many reasons to sadly weep if you are transgender: hate, rejection, fear, and guilt felt internally and magnified by the world we live in. The pain it causes is difficult, if not impossible, for most of the world.

It is a personal world that wounds our souls.

This is not one of those moments.

The beauty of films is that there is a choreography of art between the director, the actors, the music, and the cinematography that captures the pure essence of the story, whether it’s the horror, the sadness, or the joy.

There are many types of transgender films that come close to feeling the pain of being transgender. There are many that also capture the strength and courage of simply being yourself in a hostile world. Occasionally, there are movies that make you feel the transgender moments of joy.

I just watched such a film for the fourth time yesterday, something I rarely ever do.

The name of the film is “Just Charlie”.

I cry every time.

If you are transgender you will feel every emotion, if you are cisgender, you begin to understand the emotional pain and joy of being transgender.
