This Thursday, the MTV Video Music Awards aired on TV like every year, with many people eager to watch their favourite singers perform on such a famous stage.

For those who are not very familiar with the music industry scene and its main events, the VMAs night is a very special one both for artists and their fans. Don’t get me wrong, they’re not the Grammys, and they only give out awards based on fan votes, but they still offer a special stage with big media coverage for artists to debut new songs or gain the attention of the public.

In this last edition of the awards show, a particular artist stood out for a performance that many people were quick to label as problematic. We’re talking about none other than Katy Perry, an artist pretty much everyone knows, whether willful or not, because of her many hit songs, especially in the late 2000s and early 2010s.

On stage, Katy Perry performed a medley of her most famous songs, as well as her new single “I’m his, he’s mine” alongside Doechii, a woman artist featured in this song.
