Make the Yuletide Gay: A Look at Lifetime’s “Under the Christmas Tree”

I went into this expecting a corny rom-com with a vaguely rainbow-tinted filter. What I got was the most genuine (and gayest) made-for-TV Christmas movie I’ve ever seen.

Color Me Shocked

So, you all know how much I love Carmilla.

If Elise Bauman and Enrico Colantoni (otherwise known as Laura and Sherman Hollis in the critically-acclaimed webseries) are starring in a cheesy Christmas movie together, I’m gonna watch it.

Hallmark movies were a big thing in my house growing up, especially around Christmas. There were a few I liked, but for the most part, well, y’know, it’s Hallmark. Lifetime is about the same. Sometimes the acting is pretty terrible, the plots are sometimes worse, and while these movies can be cute and festive, they’re not exactly what I would call impactful storytelling.
