I have a shameful confession to make. I spend a lot of time on Facebook/Meta doom scrolling. Recently, I started participating too, posting my story and linking my Medium blogs.

I’ve also started joining groups. One of the groups was for women looking for friends. Now that I’ve become more confident in my womanhood, after a year of transition, I decided to apply to join, and was delighted to be accepted. As one does, I posted a small bio about myself, and got a lot of really positive response. There was some negative response too, but for the most part the moderators were really working hard to delete those posts as fast as people would post them. One or two got through, and got me thinking.

A woman in the group from the LGBTQ community responded with “Don’t let these negative posts get you down”, which is when I realized the hard work the moderators were doing. I replied with, “Thanks! really all I want is to lead a normal life”. One of the few negative posters I saw replied with “Normal? Really?” Fortunately that thread was shut down quickly. I resisted the urge to post a response and engage with an unpleasant person and thus continue the negativity.

In October 2023 I discovered I was non-binary, working toward trans woman. I will write about my realization journey, and whatever else comes to mind.
