Reflecting on Turning 66 as a Single Gay Man

What I picture myself doing in my 70s: still searching on Grindr or some other gay hookup app, looking for Mr. Right. I may be looking for love in all the wrong places, but this is one way to meet other men. Photo by Bliss on Adobe Stock.

The mid-60s are not watershed years. They’re just years in this writer’s life, who happens to be 66, male, single, and gay.

Without rereading the article I published on January 1, 2021, I wanted to document the differences between then and now … and what has changed in my psyche over this three-plus-year period. I’ll reread it when I have completed this article.

The Recent Past

It’s hard to believe it’s been three years since I wrote it. Over that period, the story has had 513 views and 185 reads. Of course, that was during the halcyon days of Medium, when your work got distributed, so they’re not bad numbers in today’s environment. I hope to do better with this story. If I’ve captured your attention, please read until the (bitter) end. I hope to make more than $5.52 this time!
