Trump just signed an executive order declaring that only two genders are allowed to exist in a country that prides itself on freedom and equality. Only men and women are recognized as real people in the U.S. of A.

As someone who rejects gender and goes by “they/their” pronouns, I’m not at all surprised by this bold display of bigotry. Hatred towards people who are gender non-conforming has gotten worse since Trump was first elected as President.

If you’re trans or don’t conform to strict gender roles, you’re a constant target of hate and harassment both in real life and online. In conservative media, we’re always the butt of jokes and treated as freaks who want to destroy society and impede on the rights of conservatives to be out and proud racists, misogynists, and bigots, instead of human beings who just want the freedom to be our true selves without fear of persecution.

I guess only people who spew hate and worship the strict gender roles of the 1950s are allowed to be “out” in America now.
