According to the Oxford Dictionary, an outlier is “a person differing from all other members of a particular group or set.” I have been accused of being an outlier all my life by different people. I have always accepted that description with pride.

I have never liked conformity.

Maybe it’s because I have never felt like I fit in since I was a child. I grew up in the 1950’s and 60's when conformity was the rule. That world was gender binary, ice cream choices were mainly vanilla or chocolate, and TV was black and white. People liked the simple rules and dreamed in shades of gray.

Late in life, I found myself joining a very unique group of people. I discovered that I was transgender and that I was the “T” of LGBTQ. It probably explains why I have been an outlier all my life, I was born that way by being transgender. It is obviously…

After decades of denial I finally answered the question “What’s wrong with me?” The answer is “Nothing”. I am transgender and I am OK.
