Jevan fiddled with the suit he wore, constantly readjusting it. “Why do the Aterians insist on wearing such uncomfortable formal clothing?” The collar of the shirt was already tight enough as it was, without this ridiculous thing choking him.

With an amused smile, Ardyn came over to adjust the tie. “It’s only for a few hours, my love. How do I look?”

“Stunning as ever.” Jevan reached up to run his fingers through Ardyn’s freshly cut hair, when Ardyn caught his wrist.

“Hey, I just finished styling it! You can muss it up after the presentation.”

“I’ll hold you to that,” Jevan teased. “I’m still surprised you’re keeping your hair cut. I thought you preferred wearing it long.”

Ardyn shrugged. “I never considered wearing it any other way, you know that. All the men among the Athla’bhat wore their hair long, as a sign of our masculinity.”

“That’s right. I forget how rigid your culture was before we found the other Athla’naa.”
