Andreesen slammed his hand against the podium. “Falx! Those bastards. No wonder they were constantly one step ahead of us all this time. Why didn’t earlier scans pick this up?”

“This is our latest in scanning technology. It can detect things that our previous scanners couldn’t. This chip was designed to go undetected. It’s very sophisticated technology, on a par with our own.”

“So, the Society of Sevens possesses advanced technology, just as we suspected. No wonder they were willing to destroy the relics.”

This called into question so much of what Jevan believed about everything, as the one thought foremost on his mind tumbled past his lips. “If they’re this advanced, why did they oppose building a planetary defense grid? Or why didn’t they build one of their own already?”

“That’s a good question. Once we finally flush out their leadership, I will have many such questions for them.”
