Whether this judgment will act as a deterrent remains to be seen.

Here’s yet another example of one thing leading to another… or, in this case, a deliberate lie leading to near tragedy and to ongoing threats to an innocent person’s life.

But, let’s start with the good news: The judgment is in.

After two years of legal wrangling, a drag performer maliciously targeted by a bigoted blogger has been awarded substantial compensatory and punitive damages.

That’s right! This just happened!

On May 24, 2024, a jury — in northern Idaho, of all places, one of the most notoriously regressive, intolerant slices of the USA! — determined that, by posting a fabricated statement and a doctored video online, conservative blogger Summer Bushnell defamed drag performer Eric Posey.

And, in their decision, a panel of the blogger’s peers granted plaintiff Posey a grand total of $1.1M from Bushnell.

That ain’t chump change.

It all started with the following post:

“Why did no one arrest the man in a dress who flashed his genitalia to minors and people in the crowd?”
