Undefeated: Being Transgender Is Always Being Tough
Go ahead and give us your best shot.
It takes guts to confront the reality of being transgender.
It takes guts to decide to transition.
It takes guts to start taking hormones.
It takes guts to put on a dress*. It takes even more guts to wear it in public particularly if you have been raised male for all of your life.
It takes guts to share your transgender secret the first time and every time after that.
It takes guts to share that you are transgender with your spouse.
It takes guts to then share that you are transgender with family and friends.
It takes guts to do facial electrolysis for 200 hours.
It takes guts to do hair transplants.
It takes guts to do facial surgery.
It takes guts to do genital surgery.
It takes guts to be who you are while defending what you are every day.
It takes guts to hold your head up every day as politicians, the media, religious leaders, and other strangers challenge your rights and even your right to exist.
We are transgender.
We are tough.
Go ahead and give us your best shot.
We’re not going away and we are definitely not going backwards.
