Waging a War on Queer Leftists Was Always the Plan

The right's cracking down on us has nothing to do with Charlie Kirk

Charlie Kirk died recently. He was a hate influencer who co-founded the organization Turning Point USA, which for over a decade has been instrumental in astro-turfing (i.e., orchestrating a fake grassroots movement), a more explicit form of xenophobic fascism. Kirk was an odious man who contributed to the moral panic against trans people, and I will miss him in the same way I will miss Henry Kissinger and the Queen of England, which is to say not at all.

I have recently seen a lot of anxiety that his assassination will lead to reprisals from conservatives. As the writer with the pen name

I’m worried about repercussions…They started blaming trans people almost immediately. We’ve seen that the Trump administration has little interest in human rights or even citizenship….Trans healthcare is already under attack. As a Black man who has thought a lot about gun rights, this attack could be used as a way to justify stripping trans people of guns (despite Kirk being very pro-second amendment).
