Another school day, another mass shooting.

I’m not mad at the gun. I’m not blaming the gun.

I’m blaming us.

I’m blaming our cowardice to act.

We are broken.

We are broken because we believe this is normal.

We are broken because we allow this carnage to continue.

We allow death and destruction. We allow the bloodshed.

We allow little bodies to be obliterated. We allow adults to be slaughtered.

We allow people to say with a straight face that their right to own these weapons is an appropriate price to pay for senseless murder.

What’s it going to take to end this nightmare?

Will every one of us have to claim the bullet-riddled body of a loved one?

Will that make us care enough to act?

This only happens in this nation with this obscene frequency.

This is American Exceptionalism at its most vile.

We are broken if we will not end this.

We say most of us want this problem solved.

Where is our will to elect the leaders with the courage to stop the carnage?

This should not be political, but sadly, only politics can fix this.

Woke isn’t killing us; guns are.

We need laws to restrict access to deadly weapons.

This is not a both-sides issue. Both party's rep’s vote.

One side votes to ban weapons of war.

The other side poses with their assault rifles.

One side votes for life. One side votes for death.

It is not the gun alone. We know this.

It is more guns than people in our nation.

It is unfettered access. It is a fetishization of every kind of gun.

It is loopholes that skirt background checks.

It is a weapon designed to inflict maximum death in minimum time.

It is the marketing of weapons of war to civilian masses.

It is some twisted logic of rights over life.

It is a gun culture that permeates everything.

It is our collective failure to act to stop the bloodshed.

We are broken because we accept such grief as commonplace.

We are broken because even the massacre of 9-year-olds does not change us.

We are broken if we think drag shows are more dangerous to kids than guns.

Woke isn’t killing us. Guns are.

We are broken if we will not fix this.
