I became aware of Project 2025 when Thomas Zimmer blogged about it in February. He wrote that the foreword by Heritage Foundation president Kevin Roberts, “much like most of the report, oozes a visceral disdain for the lgbtq community, and for trans people specifically.”

Oh, no.

I peeked at Project 2025. Yes, by the second paragraph, Roberts was already on to “the toxic normalization of transgenderism.”

How weird.

Not trans people. I mean, how weird is the Heritage Foundation to write a document like this.

I didn’t make time to read all 900 pages of Project 2025. Though I began to draft a long essay of my own, my draft lay dormant for months.

I’m trans, and it hurts my heart to have to explain, over and over, that it isn’t weird to be trans and that it is weird for a major political party to talk like this about trans people. Republicans talk about us as if we’re an ideology, as if we’re toxic, as if we’re invaders, as if our existence causes…
