We’re All Apes, My Gay Neighbor Claims, Unworthy of Respect.
Even within the LGBTQ+ community, there’s an extremely wide spectrum of opinions and political/social beliefs.
Rudy has a low opinion of humans. We’re all apes, he contends… or, little more than apes. This belief is at the root of some rather rigid, closed-minded opinions he’s formulated concerning the cultural trajectory of the greater queer and trans community… particularly over the last couple of decades.
It’s important to mention that Rudy is gay.
My guesstimation is he’s probably in his 60s. And, he’s one of my neighbors at an all-LGBTQ+ active-senior apartment complex.
I don’t see Rudy around much. He steers clear of our regular Friday night happy hours. But, when I run into him on campus, he’s invariably cordial, in a curt sort of way, with an impish smile, exuding what seems to be a dry, understated sense of humor. I guess I’ll come right out and admit that I find him attractive.
At least, I did… until our Christmas Eve potluck lunch.
