PSIR is an abbreviation for presentence investigation report, it’s a legal term that refers to the search-report into the person’s(convict) history, who has been accused/sentenced for a crime. PSIR report influence the sentencing term, to establish if there are mitigating circumstances which should alleviate the sentence or a background of criminal behavior to increase the harshness of the punishment. Every person who has been convicted of a felony by the federal criminal justice system, can get their lives severely altered, just because of what is written in their PSIR. Regretfully, individuals don’t learn about the process that leads to the PSI until it’s too late to influence the result.

Considering that the Presentence Investigation Report can have tremendous implications on a defendant’s case, Prison Professor’s articles on it, serve as an excellent source to begin with, for all concerned individuals and it is strongly recommended. If you are someone, who has been charged with a crime, white collar, drug or another type felony, the Presentence Investigation Report is something on which the judge will rely upon during sentencing. Not only judge, the federal probation officer, administrators within the Bureau of Prisons and the person that oversees supervised release, rely upon the Presentence Investigation Report when classifying the offender. At Prison Professor, they work with their clients in ways that they start thinking about how their responses and how their replies to such questions could bring lasting complications and the means to evade them effectively.
