Wonders of Smile
A way to brighten this world
I went to church last week to return home glad and gratified. The message was just average. But I listened to the speaker very attentively with a smile on my face. After service, to my surprise, the speaker walked up to me and said ,“every time I looked at your face, it calmed me”. I knew the reason why. It was the smile on my face. (Needless to say how overjoyed I was as though my life mission was just fulfilled 😊)
On the way back, I wondered if a small smile could have such power. Suddenly several instances from the past popped up in the mind to corroborate the wondrous effects of smile.
I remember once when a new girl joined during my post-graduation course. While the other students didn’t bother much about her, I was generous with my smile and tried to exchange some pleasantries with her. During the recess, she hopefully asked me if she could come and sit beside me from then on. My smile certainly put her at ease and she must have felt a reliable friendliness in my personality.

Smile does have a positive effect on others. It does have the power to better someone’s mood and emotions. That could be the reason why God bestowed this expression only to mankind. Have you ever seen animals smile? May be in Disney movies...not in real life which underscores the truth that smile is a feature adorned by only humans for a purpose.
It does not manifest on everyone. Proud people find it difficult to smile and it is no companion to the cruel, the jealous, wicked and the scoundrels. I have never seen criminals smile either. But it comes easy to the gentle, the weak-hearted, the caring, the loving and the good-natured. A gentle smile exuding peace is a constant feature on the face of a truly godly person. The positivity it emits relaxes and uplifts others. Honestly, a smiling receptionist or a stewardess does make a difference. It is a joy to see the smile of a child and no one can resist the smile of a baby, for it melts down our hardness for a second.
A glum face is an absolute turn off. But smile is a very attractive adornment. Smile is like a nectar that attracts the bees…It brings more delight and life like the colors on a plain canvass. Smile draws people to you and can be a gateway to a long-lasting relationship.
Every time you smile, you reap the benefit too. Smile deflates the tension that builds up within the body. So next time, when you carelessly hurl a ’how do you do?’ at someone, don't forget to couple it with a smile. Who knows how you will be impacting the other life. The little ray of positivity you emit can create a domino effect brightening up several lives.
So why don't you be a part in being a blessing to others…
“Let your smile change the world.”
