Why Indians falter?

Just one more event to go and India is still without a medal in shooting. Before the Indian contingent left the shores of the country, high hopes were pinned on shooters. Some expected three medals and others went a step further expecting five to six medals in shooting. Until the end of competitions on Saturday, India is still without a single shooting medal. Beginning 2004 games in Athens, India has been getting a medal in shooting events in each Olympics with first ever individual gold in Beijing through Abhinav Bindra and a silver and bronze in London after R.S. Rathod won the first ever shooting medal — a silver — in Olympics at Athens.Gagan Narang and Chain Singh have 50 m Rifle 3 positions event left to give India a much-needed shooting medal. Can they oblige their fans. On the penultimate day of competitions, Gurpreet Singh just missed qualifying for finals in the 25 m Rapid Fire pistol. He finished seventh with a score of 581 while the last qualifier for final scored 583. In the skeet event, Mairaj Ahmed Khan finished ninth with a score of 121. Except for Abhinav who finished fourth and Gurpreet who finished seventh, all other shooters failed to rise to the occasion.
