Democratic Socialists of America you have so much in common with the t-Rumpers
Many of us cringe at the MAGA’s enthusiastic shouts and chants. They love the energy in their group. As humans we mostly want to be part of a group. And in fact we get an extra adrenaline bump from loud excitement. That adrenaline creates a further attachment to the group. That visceral attraction becomes an addiction. Hey DSA, at your forums and rallies and marches do you feel that zeal? DSA meet MGA.
We shake our heads and eye-roll when we hear t-Rump and his followers tell us about a stolen election. Or that January 6th “was a peaceful gathering”; and at Charlottesville — “there were some very nice people on both sides”. The faithful take it on faith and believe. Does the MAGA crowd parse or interrogate their own assertions of ‘fact’? DSA’ers what do you take on faith, what do you interrogate?
Hey, DSA members and adjacents. Which accusations about Israel can you personally explain with facts? There may be facts you are unaware of; what have you tried to investigate on your own?
Do you know that Jews are indigenous people of the middle east? Do you know there has never been a Palestinian State — hundreds of yeas ago or ever. A Roman emperor changed the name of Judah to Palestine. At that time and later, “Palestinians” were people who lived in the area — Jews, Arabs, Bedouins, Christians.
Since the end of WW1 until now the Arab nations and Palestinian leaders have rejected all offers of a sovereign Palestinian State. More than 16 times. Rocks, stones, missiles, suicide bombers and on Oct. 7th rape, burning and brutal murders have been the bargaining chips of choice.
DSA — you have a solid two thousand plus years backing you of ejecting and rejecting Jews from all over the world. And evolving narratives about how hateful they are for so many reasons, You are following in the footsteps of many before you who ‘understood’ that Jews were and are the source of so many ills.
When believing and advocating and shouting — how do you decide which facts are accurate representations of reality? How do you hold yourselves accountable for anti-racism when deciding it’s OK to tell just one group of folks what ‘their’ race is’?
Actually it is notable that you have not yet produced the departures from all sanity and reason (like the MAGA stories of Jewish lasers and child-traffickers at a Pizza parlor). Although here’s a recent anecdote that may be telling — if it foreshadows what is to come.
On Feb.1, 2024 at a Palo Alto Candidates Forum for its Congressional representative, a candidate started to speak about Hamas and Israel. One attendee shouted louder than the other ‘Pro-Palestinians’. She insisted that “Israel killed most of hose people on Oct. 7h. There were no rapes. None. No one was burned. Those are all lies.” (Link below)
