I found out news a couple hours ago that I didn’t want to find out.

Justin Honeycutt, a student who was in my old youth group, passed away this morning while on his way to work. Justin was 27, and had just become a Bourbonnais police officer

Here is the article from the Daily Journal:

Bourbonnais police officer, Justin Honeycutt, 27, of Manhattan, was killed on his way to work this morning after the car he was driving hit a tree.

The call about the accident on North 5000W Road, about a mile north of Illinois Route 102, came in around 5:54 a.m., said Ken McCabe, chief deputy for the Kankakee County Sheriff’s Office. The officer who was set to start work at 6 a.m. was the only person in the car and was pronounced dead on the scene around 6:40 a.m., said Kankakee County Coroner Bob Gessner.

My friend Dikran, who did youth group with while Justin was part of the group, said it best, “This one hurts.”

I’m nine hours from my house, so I can’t go through all of my old youth group pictures. But I wish I could. To find old pics of this great guy. So funny. Incredibly kind. Just a great, great guy.

Yeah, this one hurts.
