What God can do with two big time trouble makers

While working at a conference this week I ran into my old friend Jeremy Brown. High school together. Youth group and church together. And a LOT of mischief together.

Jeremy and I were indeed the trouble makers at times. Well…often. Ulcers developed in a few teachers can probably be attributed to us. TP’d a lot of houses. I can neither confirm nor deny whether any eggs ever got tossed. We both can tell you stories of people who told us in so many word or even out right that we wouldn’t amount to much.

Thankfully God is bigger than such people.

Jeremy is currently the Senior pastor at Journey Church in Medina, TN.
I’m currently the Campus pastor of New Life Lincoln Park in Chicago.

We got to have coffee yesterday and catch up some. We’re still punks but we are punks who love Jesus and are trying our best to love Him, our families, and the church families we are part of.

Teenagers have their moments. It’s part of being a teenager. Those moments at times can be pretty frustrating for parents. Some of those moments can be scary or even disheartening; when you feel hopeless in the present, wonder what happened in the past, and feel scared about the future.

If you’re such a parent with such a teen, just remember…God is big. God is gracious. God is merciful. God is amazing.

If God can make something out of two guys like Jeremy and I, then trust me, He’s not done with your kid yet. “Tomorrow” is one of God’s most beautiful creations.

And if anyone tells you different, that there’s no hope for your kid, you ignore them. And then write me with their address.

Jeremy and I will go egg their house for you. =)
