Peter Sagan is known as arguably the best cyclist in the world at the moment, but is there any doubt that Christophe Laporte is simply better? We’ll give you seven reasons Laporte is superior and show why they don’t want you to know who’s really better.

1. He Crushed him on Mont Ventoux — One of the most well known climbs in the world, where Coppi made his legend, Simpson died, Merckx triumphed, perhaps one of the greatest indicators of superiority in the world. In the 2016 Tour de France, Christophe Laporte blazed ahead to crush Sagan by a full 1 minute and 57 seconds — dominance.

2. Laporte Supports Bouhanni — Laporte is a true champion, who values his teammates success above his own, as well as underlining the scale of his superiority by pulling his teammate to successive victories, especially given Bouhanni is a greater sprinter than Sagan, is there any doubt that wouldn’t be true without Laporte’s assistance?

3. Bike Control — Peter Sagan is known as the king of bike handling, but how many times have you seen him crash, 2015 Vuelta a Espana, multiple wheelie failures on youtube, the list goes on! But attempt to recall a time Laporte was brought to the tarmac and you see that clearly he is the superior bike handler — he doesn’t even get into dangerous situations, given his sixth sense for them!

4. Better Puns — Ever heard a Sagan pun? Don’t make one, Laporte will be showing you the door almost immediately.

5. Montauban — Not much more to say, Laporte effortlessly glided ahead of the World Champion in a bunch sprint in no less than the Tour de France, showing him up on the Slovak’s own terrain, not only this but Laporte made sure there was a countryman in the top ten, let’s see Sagan manage that.

6. He knows when to lose — Sagan is always going for the win, and who does that remind you of? Pantani Giro 1997 and we all know no good can come from that. Laporte knows when to take it easy and keep the pressure off his back, surely enough to see him better than the Slovak in the long run.

Peter Sagan’s controversial hair

7. The Hair — Sponsor’s market Sagan’s hair, they see money when they see it, Laporte sees drag, the pure dedication of Laporte means he values talent over money. However sponsors want to combine hair and being the best to give the fans something they want, who would want to buy their products knowing that they can’t win and have an eccentric hairstyle? Put simply, the money gives the hair the results.
