This is my experience on how I got started to learn programming.
For easy digestion, I’ll provide bullet points and links to relevant online resources.
//start
- Found a job where I would be using Xcode on a daily basis as part of my PM/QA toolkit.
- Took the weekend course of Intro to iOS Programming at General Assembly in New York City. However, it seems they have changed the name to Introduction to Xcode.
- Learned how to use all aspects of Xcode, including Instruments and Source Code Control, on the job with the exception of the Source Editor.
- Expanded my knowledge of what to look for when creating apps that run native to the device.
- Found Ray Wenderlich’s tutorial on how to write in Swift for individuals with no prior experience in programming.
- Leverage Apple’s documentation if I have trouble understanding a concept in the tutorial.
- Practice writing in Swift everyday for a minimum of 30 minutes to an hour at most.
