It’s not as bad as you think. It takes positive exposure to understand why you want to learn programming in the first place and how you intend to utilize it in the future.

Learning how to program.

This is my experience on how I got started to learn programming.

For easy digestion, I’ll provide bullet points and links to relevant online resources.

• Found a job where I would be using Xcode on a daily basis as part of my PM/QA toolkit.
• Took the weekend course of Intro to iOS Programming at General Assembly in New York City. However, it seems they have changed the name to Introduction to Xcode.
• Learned how to use all aspects of Xcode, including Instruments and Source Code Control, on the job with the exception of the Source Editor.
• Expanded my knowledge of what to look for when creating apps that run native to the device.
• Found Ray Wenderlich’s tutorial on how to write in Swift for individuals with no prior experience in programming.
• Leverage Apple’s documentation if I have trouble understanding a concept in the tutorial.
• Practice writing in Swift everyday for a minimum of 30 minutes to an hour at most.
