You should ‘never cry over spilled milk’ — at least that’s how the old sayin’ goes — but that’s exactly what’s going to happen when you try to pour milk from Costco’s redesigned milk jug. Although the new design eases the process by which the milk containers are shipped (they may be stacked on top of each other thus eliminating the need for crates) it only adds to the frustration of the consumer with it’s clumsy handling and unwieldy pouring. Below are some proposed redesigns that, despite being none too elegant, may offer a better compromise between sustainable shipping and consumer comfort:
