In 2017, we saw lots of awesome Product Hunt launches out of Boston. Which ones made the cut for the top 5? You’ll notice 3 of the top 5 were helpful resources. One company has already pivoted from their launch. Another showcased Boston’s B2B prowess. Two are up for Golden Kitty Awards. Combined, these 5 products have over 6,500+ upvotes 👍 Let’s take a look below.

#1: Really Good UX from Appcues

Looking for some really good UX inspiration? Appcues has put together over 1,000 of the best UX flows from around the web. For the past two years they’ve been sharing these internally, but are now making them available for all the UX fans who need a go-to place for inspiration. With a wide range of examples from companies like Lyft, Tumblr, Slack, Duolingo, and Dropbox, you’re sure to find inspiration.

🏆😽 You can show your support for Really Good UX: it’s been nominated for Side Project of the Year in the Golden Kitty Awards.

#2: Culture Codes from Tettra

Culture Codes is a collection of company culture decks and company handbooks from companies like Spotify, Github, NASA, IDEO, and Netflix, who’s culture deck Sheryl Sandberg called “the most important document ever to come out of the valley”. The idea for Culture Codes came from Andy Cook at Tettra who previously worked at HubSpot. While at HubSpot, he was impressed with the strong company culture as “a way to scale decision making across the company”. Andy started by looking for published culture codes from other companies to share within Tettra and then curated the list to share with the community. After the strong launch, the team built on the resource with Culture Codes 2.0, which now contains employee handbooks and interviews.

🏆😽 You can show your support for Culture Codes: it’s also been nominated for Side Project of the Year in the Golden Kitty Awards.

#3: Drift Developer Platform from Drift

A regular on Product Hunt with their monthly “marketable moments”, Drift unveiled the world’s first real-time B2B conversational developer platform. Now you can connect Drift to any tech stack you want, allowing you to do things like pull up customer info without ever leaving the Drift chat. Bots and integrations can also be published to the Drift Marketplace so others in the Drift Community can use it. Whatever your stack, you can now create and use conversational bots and data integrations with Drift.

#4: VentureApp (now HqO)

VentureApp was started to help solve the biggest problem with LinkedIn — spammy messages. They found it silly that there isn’t a messaging platform catering to business communication instead of social communication and that on LinkedIn you don’t engage with your most important business contacts. With VentureApp, only your contacts can message you (no buying their way into your inbox), plus the ability to open and close chats, and expiring invites so messaging doesn’t become a chore. Recently, VentureApp pivoted to become HqO, a real estate tech company offering tenant engagement software. The pivot changes their focus to now building communities for landlords and their tenants.

#5: Referral Programs from Drafted

If your team is looking to build a referral program but unsure about where to start, then check out Referral Programs from Drafted. It’s a curated list of referral programs by top companies, including Salesforce, Asana, Squarespace, and Kickstarter. For each company you’ll find statistics, such as number of employees, venture funding, and open roles alongside their referral program. Quantifying the referral program, you’ll find the percentage of hires made through referrals and the size of their referral rewards. If you’re building a referral program and need answers to questions like “what should our referral bonus be?” or “what percent of hires should we expect to get through referrals?”, then this is the tool for you.
