These 9 Products Will Make You Ridiculously Nostalgic

Is it just us, or do you also wish you could rewind back to your childhood and relive your favorite songs, TV shows, and video games all over again? With the nine throwback products below, now you can. Whether you want to play an old school arcade game, or laugh at old commercials, or sing along to those songs you listened to on repeat as a teenager, you’ll find something below that will make you feel all nostalgic for the good old days. Now all you need is a Capri Sun, a Fruit Roll-Up, and some neon clothes—and you’re good to go. ;-)

1. The Internet Arcade

The Internet Arcade is a web-based library of old school, coin operated video games from the 1970s-90s. You will quite literally find hundreds of games on the site, ranging from early ‘bronze-age” video games with black and white screens, to more mainstream games with music and digitized voices. Most of the games are playable, and many also have a throwback “boot-up” sequence when you first turn it on. If you’re a video game lover, this site will send you down a rabbit hole better than YouTube can.

2. My 90’s TV

Relive your favorite TV shows from childhood.

Oh my gosh, talk about a ridiculously cool blast from the past. My 90’s TV is quite possibly every nostalgic 80’s and 90’s baby’s dream come true. Select the kinds of television you’re feeling nostalgic for (e.g. commercials, gameshows, cartoons, news, sports, etc), hit the “Power” button, and start flipping through the “channels”! You can sort by year between 1990 and 1999, as well. This one is sure to make you reminisce about those times when your ideal Friday night consisted of watching TGIF with your BFFs.

3. History Timeline

Who was alive, when, and where?

This may just be the most in-depth timeline ever, featuring influential people who lived between 2700 BC (!!!) all the way through to the present. You can sort the very big list of close to 10,000 people by place of birth and/or area they are known for, like: religion, politics, music, sports, business, and more. This is a fascinating snapshot of the people who’ve had an incredible impact on humanity, and makes it easier to understand who shaped history—and where. This timeline will keep you endlessly occupied.

4. Nintendo Classic Mini

The NES is back… but it’s mini!

Look, the photo above says it all, and we’re pretty damn excited about it. Nintendo’s ultimate retro gaming experience is making a comeback—this time, in mini format! NES plugs directly into any high-definition TV with an HDMI cable, and comes with 30 games already built in. (Ummm…Super Mario Bros, here we come!) Each of the titles—like Donkey Kong, Legend of Zelda, Metroid, and PAC-MAN—is sure to send you right back down memory lane. We know it’s too early to start thinking about what we want for Christmas, but…this is definitely on the wish list.

5. Computer Show

Tech talk show set in 1983, interviewing founders of 2015.

Honestly, what’s not to love about a tech talk show set in the 80's? This show is both hilarious and informative (but mostly, prepare to crawl up into a ball from laughter). The founders they interview are current, but the programming style is about as throwback 80’s newsroom as you can get. Think: Jon Stewart meets Zach Galifianakis. Computer Show will keep all of the tech geeks out there thoroughly entertained.

6. Dear Photograph

Pictures of pictures in the past in the present.

This website may or may not make you feel all of the nostalgic feels. Dear Photograph features a series of images submitted by users who hold up an old photo against the same location in present day. Each image is accompanied by a little note from the submitter explaining the memory and people associated with the photo. Some will make you laugh, and others will make you cry—but just about all of them will cause you to reflect on the people and places that have most greatly impacted your own life so far. Someone pass us a box of Kleenex, please.

7. Great Apps Timeline

See how some of today’s great apps evolved over time.

Great Apps Timeline provides a fun, quick glance at the design evolution of several popular apps since they were born. Check out how Instagram, Uber, LinkedIn, PayPal, Pinterest, and more have changed over the past 6–9 years. This is a fascinating look back at these iOS apps—and a great reminder to anyone launching an app that it doesn’t have to look all that perfect in the very beginning. ;-)

8. Spotify Taste Rewind

What your music taste would have been like in past decades.

Spotify slays it again with Taste Rewind. Sign into your account, select a few artists you love, and Spotify will work its algorithmic magic. The result? You’ll get uniquely designed playlists, made for your personal music taste, by decade—from the 1960s to the 2000s. Who knew Creedence Clearwater and Neil Diamond would be among our favorite artists if it were 1965 right now? Seriously, do this and find out what would be on your old school playlists.

P.S. How can the world not have a major crush on everything the Spotify team creates? ;-)

9. The Nostalgia Machine

Get your childhood jam on.

Let the reminiscing begin! The Nostalgia Machine will help you remember the ultimate playlists from 1960 to 2013. Remember when Savage Garden’s Truly Madly Deeply was your jam in 1998? Or how Whitney Houston’s How Will I Know was the party jam came out in 1986—and no one knew then that a random dude named Sam Smith was going to make a (arguably better) cover version of the song almost two decades later? Ahhh, the memories. Also—this is the perfect playlist planning tool the next time you throw a decade-themed party. Just saying.

We couldn’t help but take a walk down memory lane while curating this collection. If you feel us and want more products that will give you that warm and fuzzy feeling for the past, you can follow the Nostalgic Topic on Product Hunt.
