Meet Krishna! Krishna is a working Product Manager with an Engineering degree and a Master’s Degree from one of the top schools in Canada, the University of Waterloo. In this video, our Product Practice Lead offers tips on how to reimagine your product resume and make it more impactful.
There comes a time in everyone’s career when a resume needs to be reimagined from that of a fresh graduate, to that of a working professional.
Each of us reaches a point in our careers when our resumes must be reimagined from that of a fresh graduate to that of a working professional.
A fresh graduate resume is one which includes Education and Professional Development at the top. However, once you gain real-world experience as a full-time employee, it’s your employment experience that will make an employer want to interview you, so it should come before education.
Here are our top 3 tips to help reimagine your product resume:
Move an employer to action
This is the objective of a resume. Your resume’s main goal is to book a call with you. You should always focus on this when creating your resume.
Focus on what the employer cares about
To move an employer to action, we want to help the employer get to what they care about, which are:
- Where do you work?
- What have you accomplished? i.e outcomes
Put employment experience at the top
Ensuring that your work experience and achievements are ‘above the fold’ and presented in a way that highlights your strengths will help separate you from other applicants.
