Change is an unavoidable part of life, and no matter how much we resist it, we are bound to face it eventually. Whether good or bad, we all need to accept it. We are so used to staying in our comfort zones that even after knowing that the change is good for us, we avoid it. Trying to stick to a familiar environment doesn’t always work in our favor.

Here are ten lies we tell ourselves daily that prevent the good changes in our life:

1. I’m incapable of doing it.

Instead of focusing on making something happen, we keep shattering our own hopes by telling ourselves that we’re incapable of doing it. No matter how difficult or easy it is, if you keep destroying your own confidence, you also keep pushing away possible good changes in life.

2. It’s too hard to achieve.

Thinking that something is too hard to achieve is a big mistake. If we’re too lazy to go after something, and we fear change, we try to tell ourselves that it’s almost impossible to do it, and so it’s okay if we don’t even try. But that’s not true.

3. I must follow the norms.

Telling yourself that you need to follow the conventional ways of doing things prevents any change whatever in your life. You try to make yourself believe that following the norms and doing everything accordingly is the right way of doing things.

4. I’ll do it tomorrow.

Procrastination is an enemy of change. If you keep pushing something off to later, you’ll never realize the advantages of doing it exactly when it’s supposed to be done. As a result, you’ll always keep postponing things, avoiding every chance of change.

5. Plans are for losers. I do things on the go.

If you keep believing that doing things on the go is the best way of doing them, you’re wrong. Proper planning is the only weapon that can help you embrace change well and be prepared for whatever challenges life has in store for you. If you do things on the go, you’ll hardly get to experience the good changes in life.

6. Smart people don’t risk it.

Risks are an important part of life. If you keep telling yourself that risks are not meant for you, you’re indirectly stepping away from a change that could be ideal for you. Unless you try doing something unusual, you can’t experience extraordinary success.

7. Being the jack of all trades is unnecessary.

No matter how good you’re at your work, learning new skills on the go is essential to increasing your chances at success. If you keep believing that one skill is enough for you to experience success, you need to rethink. In today’s time, you need to regularly update your skill set to make way for a healthy change in your life.

8. I need to enjoy my life now.

Although we all must think about enjoying our life, using it as an excuse to avoid hard work and change is not fair. It’ll only close all doors to changes that hold the power to reshape our life. Establishing a work-life balance is essential for you to manage your professional and personal life well.

9. Now isn’t the right time.

There’s no right or wrong time for anything. You need to take the first step in the present moment to reach a milestone in future. Constantly telling yourself that you need to wait for the right time to start working on something is definitely wrong.

10. I don’t know how to achieve it.

Trying to convince yourself that you’re clueless about how to go about achieving something is nothing but an excuse to avoid change. In case you don’t know how to do something, start with research. Once you get your facts right, you can chalk out a plan to achieve your goal.
