How to know if you’ll get the job or not.

Unless you get the job on the spot or you get to hear a no directly, you often spend most of your time wondering how the interview went. The entire sequence of events keeps replaying in your head as you try to take clues from the body language of the people in the panel. You keep thinking if you did alright in each step of the process.

To put you out of this mystery, here are five signs to tell clearly if your interview went well.

1. You got to meet the entire team.

Getting introduced to the entire team is a good sign. It shows that the interviewer wants you to work with them and is considering you to be the perfect candidate for the job. Their intention of making you meet everybody is that you have a rough idea of what kind of people you’ll be dealing with and how the work environment is. Also, these people might have a pivotal role to play in deciding whether you get the job or not. Therefore, it’s essential to treat them well and put your best foot forward.

2. The interviewer explained every little detail about the role.

If the interviewer explained to you in great detail about how they work, it more or less means that they want you working there. If they didn’t want you on board, they would never spend any time trying to summarize your role in such detail. The other reason they were so specific is, they probably want you to feel comfortable with their style of working.

3. The interview lasted for longer than expected.

Usually, if an interview lasts longer than the scheduled time frame, there can only be two possible reasons behind it — you either got into a terrible argument with the panel or they want you on board. The chances of it being the second reason are higher. So, if an interview that should have lasted a half-hour turns into an hour-long conversation, it’s most likely a green signal.

4. They asked you about your salary expectations.

If they ask you about your salary expectations after their round of questions is over, there’s a high chance that you got the job. Otherwise, instead of wasting time hearing about your salary expectations, they would just interview the next person in line.

5. They ask you to contact them for any further queries.

The only reason they ask you to contact them again in case of any queries is that they want you to clear all your doubts about the job. They won’t give you the privilege to bug them with more questions unless they’re seriously considering you for the role. Ensure that you ask smart questions. Don’t ask for information that’s readily available on their website; it will make you look desperate for the job.
