Unlike what most of us think, true success has less to do with how much money you have in your bank account and more to do with your attitude. Most successful people around the world never chased money in their lives, they chased their passion. Steve Jobs, for instance, is successful because he believed in making world class products, not in making money. Here are 6 signs that show a successful life has nothing to do with money or fame.

1. People thank you for your work.

People tend to believe that money and fame are the most important yardsticks to measure success. And so they chase them for their entire lives only to feel empty and betrayed in the end. Even though money and fame can indicate our how successful we are, but they surely aren’t the fundamental factors. Success is often determined by how useful your work has been to people. If people have been thanking you for changing their lives in some way, it proves that your work has been substantially good, and that you’re successful in your area of work.

2. You lose track of time while working.

Most people who start their careers chasing money end up working for firms they hate. Although they get hefty paychecks at the end of every month, they never seem to be happy with their work. They become restless when there is extra work to be done and try escaping every possibility of working late. This, in no means, is true success. You can call yourself successful when you enjoy every moment of time at work, when you work the entire day and yet don’t seem to feel tired. Essentially, this happens when you lose track of time at work and it signifies that you’re successful.

3. You know what you’re doing.

It’s easy in these times to fall in state of confusion every now and then. Most people do, and there’s nothing to be shameful about this. But when you always find yourself drowning in a sea of perplexities most of your day, there is something to be concerned about. You’re probably aimless at work. You don’t know what you’re doing and where you’re going, even though your earning high income. The point is, success is a calculation of your sense of direction — of work and life in general, and not necessary how much earn. When you know exactly what you’re doing, you are in the path of success.

4. You work with people who you like.

To most companies, often the most challenging task in the path to success is hiring people. They start out by hiring a bunch of people who want money and would do anything for it, and later with much regret they realize what they are looking for instead are people who like to work, who are motivated, sincere and honest. It takes a long time for coming to this simple conclusion. If you’re looking to running a successful company, hire the ones you would like to work with. Working is always a team effort and success therefore, depends completely on the kind of people you work with.

5. You take risks.

There is an immense amount of fear one has to face before taking a risk. It’s a vulnerable moment when people consider giving everything up for something they believe in. The courage to invest so much of their selves into something is sign of success. This is because not many can make sense of this audacity and therefore, they never try. If you’re someone who takes risks without pondering too much about the outcome, then you’re also the one who is most likely to be success in life.

6. You believe in making a difference.

Human beings gain their sense of self in this world through being significant. We like to believe that we’re here on earth for a reason and there is something we can contribute while we are here. Success is realization of this true inner worth. People who believe in making a difference are able to connect with their core purpose sooner in their lives. This realization is important because it is basis of all our actions, decisions, emotions and desires. Knowing that you want to make a difference is a clear sign of your success in this world.
