7 Things You Need To Stop Doing To Be Happy

Define your happiness by the choices you make.

Happiness is about the little things you do, the decisions you make, and the things you accomplish. More importantly, it’s about letting go of the things that suck the happiness out of you. What are these things that should be let go? Here are seven things.

1. Going after stuff.

When it comes to status, we always relate it to the number of things we possess. But to be truly happy, you need to invest in memories and experiences with people in your life. This will buy you more happiness than any stuff could ever buy.

2. Being self-absorbed.

When you’re constantly immersed in yourself, you tend to move away from happiness. You worry about the little things you do and are constantly seeking approval. This takes away from the good and happy memories in life.

3. Trying to be someone you’re not.

Some people try to impress others by changing who they are at the core. They put up a mask just to come across as impressive. Being fake around people is no way to be happy. You ruin relationships, and you disappoint yourself in the end.

4. Pursuing perfection.

It’s not a realistic possibility for any of us to be perfect in who we are or what we do. Pursuing perfection helps us do our best, but leaves us disappointed in the process, as we never achieve the desired results.

5. Trying to be there for everyone.

Some people are always attempting to fix others and help them live their lives. In this pursuit, they forget to focus on what they really want. You achieve happiness only when you start focusing on what it’s that you wish to do in life.

6. Being anxious about our future.

Some of us are very concerned about our future. We’re always slogging it out to try and create a future where we’re happy and fulfilled. We don’t realize that true happiness lies in living in the moment, not in the past or future.

7. Trying to control everything.

Stop trying to live life as you have planned it. It’s simply not possible to control everything in your life, as life is extremely unpredictable. Trying to tame an untameable beast will only drive you crazy.
