There is practically nothing that you can’t achieve today if you’re motivated enough. But the harsh reality is that human beings can’t sustain their motivation for too long. Circumstances force them to suffer, sob and seek for hope. During such times, it’s not always helpful to depend on the self for inspiration and guidance. People who have suffered as much as you, if nor more, have written books that can answer all your questions and pull you out of your misery.

Here are 10 books that can motivate you during your tough times.

1. Think And Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill

During The Great Depression in 1937 when people were jobless and toiling in financial crisis, the book helped them recover from their problems and sustain a prosperous living. The book delves deep into our sub-conscious and offers us ways to reshape our thinking to create the life of our dreams.

2. Awaken the Giant Within by Anthony Robbins

If there’s anything we’re unable to achieve at the moment, it’s because we haven’t yet realized our true power. Through this book, Anthony Robbins intends to help people find their inner strengths. He guides us by giving strategies that can help awaken the giant lying dormant within each one of us.

3. Psycho-Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz

Maxwell Maltz is a renowned cosmetic surgeon who has found the link between our physical and inner world. Through his research and professional experiences, he realized if people can de-hypnotize themselves from their false beliefs and doctrines, they can paint a positive self-image for themselves and achieve anything they want in lives.

4. Tuesdays With Morrie by Mitch Albom

We tend to avoid listening to older folks because they are often preachy and arrogant when it comes to giving advice. This wasn’t the case with Mitch Albom though. He learned profound lessons on career, relationships, and life in general from Morrie Schwartz — his college professor — in the last months of the old man’s life and curated the wisdom in this book.

5. What I Know For Sure by Oprah Winfrey

Oprah Winfrey’s life is a splendid tale of joy, resilience, connection, gratitude, possibility, awe and divine order. Her journey through the setbacks, monotony, hopelessness, awakenings and triumphs has taught her something priceless at every part of her life. In What I Know For Sure, Oprah shares what she learned in her path to being who she is today.

6. Daring Greatly by Brene Brown

Society has conditioned us to hide our vulnerable selves and present our comfortable selves. Brene Brown, after her 12 years of research, concludes through this book that vulnerability is a profound human strength, not a weakness. It’s the core of grief, fear, disappointment and even the birthplace of joy, empathy, enthusiasm and love. She believes that to dare greatly and be vulnerable is the truest form of courage there is.

7. A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle

There is a common cause of all the emotional sufferings in the today — Ego. Through this book, Eckhart Tolle sheds light on our ego-based state of consciousness and cautions us about its dysfunction in our lives. Eckhart Tolle believes that people can escape from their endless cycle of suffering if they can live without being influenced by their ego.

8. Your Erroneous Zones by Wayne Dyer

According to Wayne Dyer, our “Erroneous Zones” are barriers that stop us from living a happy and fulfilling life. In this book, he offers us step-by-step advice to break out from the toxic patterns of our behaviors and circumstances, and take charge of our lives to lead a life abundant with happiness.
