A Phone That’ll Change The Way You Listen To Music: The Marshall London Is Here

Marshall, an England-based company that designs and manufactures music amplifiers, speaker cabinets and headphones, is all set to launch its first smartphone, an Android (Lollipop) device for music lovers. With smartphones being launched every other day, you would think there’s nothing special about Marshall wanting to get a piece of the pie.

Marshall’s new phone though, is nothing like your regular smartphone. This phone is every audiophile’s dream come true. Keeping with their tradition of creating high quality music equipment, Marshall has created a phone specifically for an audience that takes its music very seriously.

The London is a flat, rectangular handset that has a soft-touch faux-leather finish, with knurled gold color buttons. Hailed by Marshall as the “loudest mobile phone on Earth”, the phone has two front facing speakers that make London the perfect tool for listening to music even without headphones.

Another handy feature is the dual stereo jack, each with an independent volume control, allowing you and a friend to listen to music together. The London also comes with a bespoke DJ app that lets wannabe jocks cue and mix their tunes in headphones, while the current track plays through a speaker.

If you’re more into recording, the phone has dual microphones that let you record your spur-of-the-moment riffs in full stereo. Again, Marshall has installed a custom app to help you along with your recordings.

Unlike the volume rockers found on regular smartphones, the London uses a scroll wheel that gives you precise tactile control over the volume. You can also custom-set your equalizer settings with the Global Equalizer feature.

And if you are curious about the phone itself, it’s a 4.7-inch (720p/IPS) device, with 16GB of internal storage (expandable via SD card), running on a Snapdragon 410 chip (1.4GHz, quad-core), 8- and 2-megapixel cameras and a Wolfson WM8281 Audio Hub.

Marshall has packed in some unique features that any serious music-lover will appreciate. But at a price of $499/£399, the London may not entice a large section of buyers, especially when you compare it to other, higher spec phones at that price. But for those who eat, breathe, and live music, the London might just be the phone they were waiting for.
