Google’s New Logo Is More Than Just A Design Change

Google is all set for a complete makeover. First came the internal re-structuring with the formation of the mother company Alphabet, which is now followed by the launch of the new logo unveiled on Google’s search page today.
Google announced on Tuesday that it would be changing its iconic logo to one that “that reflects this reality and shows you when the Google magic is working for you, even on the tiniest screens,” according to a statement.
The company has seen many logo changes in its 17-year history but this one has to be the most significant change yet. The new custom font that Google calls Product Sans has thicker, more uniform letters. Google posted on its blog that the new typeface “takes cues from that same schoolbook letter-printing style, but adopts the neutral consistency we’ve all come to expect from a geometric sans serif.”
The colors too have been enhanced. Google has “adjusted and pushed the vibrancy of red, green, and yellow to maintain saturation and pop.”
The company also introduced a new four-color single “G” logo that will replace the blue and white lowercase “g” that appears on app icons and other products.
The new logo will also have several dynamic features. It doesn’t simply tell you that you’re using Google, but also shows you how Google is working for you. For example, new elements like a colorful Google mic allow you to identify and interact with Google whether you’re talking, tapping or typing.
Google’s web search is already showing the new logo and we can expect it to be rolled out to other products quite soon.
