Growing Up Without Growing Old

Never worry about growing old because you’re only as old as you feel.
Are you excited about the coming year? Or, are you scared that you’ll be one more year older?
It seems you’re not alone who is worried because a lot of people are scared about their aging. People tend to forget that age is just a number, and it doesn’t matter how old a person is, unless and until he’s young at heart and enjoys living his life.
Growing up doesn’t always need to mean that you’re growing old. Growing up means you’re gaining more knowledge, experience, intelligence and wisdom. Gabriel Garcia Marquez once said, “Age isn’t how old you’re but how old you feel.” But never before has this statement had as much relevance as it does now.
The fear of aging and growing old is muddling up people’s mind and their way of thinking.
A person at the age of 80 can do all he wants whether it is paragliding, hiking, skydiving, surfing or dating a young woman, just like an 18-year-old young man. It’s all about your high-spirits, your will-power and how young you feel. If a person thinks he’s too old to go for hiking, his fear will make him weak and pull him back from taking a step forward.
So, if you’re curious to know how you can change your way of thinking and grow up without growing old, here are some quick tips for you:
1. Stay fit & healthy.
The first and foremost thing one can do to feel young is by staying fit and healthy. One who is fit can take up any task and challenge regardless of how old he is. As a person ages, he experiences a number of major life changes, like career changes, having children, the loss of loved ones, retirement and more. To handle the changes and grow in life, staying fit and strong is imperative.
2. Interact with people of all ages.
Always remember that knowledge has no boundaries. You can learn to be happy from a five-year-old as well as a fifty-year- old. Therefore, always try to stay in an open-minded and energetic society, and keep the enthusiasm of learning alive within you. Never shy from asking a question to a person younger than you. He might be smarter and more aware than you irrespective of his young age.
3. Live, laugh and love.
Stick to the present and live your life to the fullest keeping in mind that your life is not to grow old but to grow up and flourish as an individual. Watch funny movies and TV shows and laugh out loud, laughing will not only de-stress you but will also aid your emotional, mental and physical health. Love yourself and do the things you love. Be friendly to people and spread the love within you to stay happy and young forever.
