Early Risers Vs. Night Owls: Who Is More Successful?

Most people usually identify themselves as early birds or night owls. While early birds are the ones who get the worm, the night owls get creative with what they want. But early birds may be getting more than just the worm, according to many scientifically proven studies.

Many of the most successful people across the world are early risers and have flourished in their fields. Here is why early birds are more successful than night owls.

1. Early risers are likely to be more successful.

A 2008 study out of Texas University showed that those students who identified themselves as early birds earned a full point higher on their GPAs compared to those who identified themselves as night owls. These good grades help students secure better career opportunities.

2. Early risers are happier than night owls.

Early risers are known to be happier with their overall life than night owls. As one ages, the night owl tendencies tend to fade and a morning-focused schedule contributes to making one happy. The study showed how older adults are happier in comparison to younger adults.

3. Early risers are in better shape than night owls.

Early risers have the extra time before their work day begins, giving them the chance to get in a workout every morning. This helps them be in shape whereas night owls find it difficult to workout with their late schedules. This morning exercise helps to boost mood and provides energy for the rest of the day.

4. Early risers are comparatively more productive.

Early risers have time in the morning to do their work without any distraction. A recent study by Christopher Randler, a biology professor at the University of Education at Heidelberg, found that morning people were energetic and more likely to take charge of situations.

5. Early risers exhibit healthy character traits.

Early risers are likely to exhibit healthy character traits like optimism, satisfaction, and conscientiousness. However, night owls have been linked with creativity and intelligence, but show traits of depression, pessimism, and neurotic behavior.
