As a Media and Communications Major and an Art History Minor with a background in Graphic Design and Photography, my ideal job when I graduate would be a marketing position for a creative or community based company or non-profit. I’d like to actively use some of the skills I’ve learned from my internship and on my own. These include Google Analytics, creating visual and written content for social media and blog use, photography and photo-editing.

Taking my skills as a Social Media Intern this past Spring, I think working in Social Media for AMF Creative in Towson would be a perfect fit. https://www.indeed.com/cmp/Smarketing-Agency/jobs/Social-Media-Specialist-c2d225752acdca36?q=Marketing This position requires social media campaigns to be run, social media followings to be grown, content to be created for identified audiences. I would be a competitive candidate for this job because I created and executed social media campaigns at my internship and in the process learned what what most effective. I also created content including photographs, videos, design, and blog posts with the target audience of the UMBC students and potential students in mind. I grew the followings for the Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts at my internship beyond the goals set at the beginning of my internship.

As a Marketing Manager at The Museum of Natural History, I would specifically use my experience with creating marketing campaigns, and working with promoting events and programs. However, I would need to further my knowledge of creating marketing materials and my public relations skills. To acquire these skills, I would offer to help with marketing materials at my current internship. To learn about public relations, I would research the proper way to write press releases and international relations. https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/437802118 This job also states that the candidate will need to, “leverage his/her knowledge of the media landscape to publicize the Museum’s research and educational initiatives.” I would use my learned knowledge of the history of media, and further research the media in use and related to the museum.

On the international level, I would be interested in working for a makeup company, furthering their brand presence, building their following, and tracking media trends. Revlon has a Digital Marketing Communication Specialist position available in Italy: https://www.glassdoor.com/Job/italy-digital-marketing-jobs-SRCH_IL.0,5_IN120_KO6,23.htm This position includes creating web content for the brand, which I previously mentioned I had experience in at my internship. It also includes supporting communication for events, press releases, sponsorships, etc. Being an effective writer and in-person communicator would be key in this, and I would gain more experience by attending networking events and conferences.
