I Can Do These Jobs
As a Media and Communications major and Theatre Studies minor, I would prefer to work mainly in theatre-related jobs. My summer internship consisted of social media marketing for Baltimore Improv Group, and I am currently Public Relations Manager for UMBC TheatreCOM, so I would like to continue in either one of those directions.
Marketing Representative — Statefarm, Catonsville, MD
Statefarm is a nationally-known insurance company.
This position is an entry-level job, only requiring that whoever applies is energetic and self-motivated. The ad does ask for previous sales experience, but lists it as preferred.
As a person who has worked in customer service for the last four years, and also as a person who is very ambitious, I would fit in very well with their requirements. The only thing I would need would be a completed Bachelor’s degree.
Public Relations Coordinator — Carahsoft Technology Corporation, Reston, VA
Carahsoft Technology Corporation is a government IT solutions company, based in Reston, Virginia.
The position they have open is that of Public Relations Coordinator. The duties of a Public Relations Coordinator include: creating marketing plans, cultivating relationships with the customers, and editing press releases. In order to fulfill these duties, Carahsoft requires every applicant to be: responsible, dependable, eager to learn, be self-motivated, and to have previous experience or knowledge with being in a public relations position.
I already am responsible and dependable, as well as self-motivated and eager to learn. The only thing I would have to gain would be the experience, as I am sure I do not have enough to qualify. I would go about gaining this experience by participating in another internship or perhaps getting an entry-level job elsewhere.
Marketing and Public Relations — McDonalds, Conover, NC
This position is with McDonalds, a major fast-food corporation with locations all over the world. This particular position, however, takes place in Conover, North Carolina. There, the Public Relations officer would primarily focus on cultivating relationships with the local community, through various community events and in-store activities.
In order to apply for this position, you must at least be a high school graduate. Additionally, you should be mature, responsible, and creative. More tangible qualities McDonalds is looking for are those of creativity, knowledge of Microsoft Office, and flexible hours.
As of right now, I could apply for this position and actually be in the running. I have an A.A., so the education requirement is filled. I have experience using both a computer and Microsoft Office. I also am mature and responsible.
