Working Through my Writer’s Block
Coming into this class, I was under the impression that writing positions were few and far between in the current job market. That said, I was only looking at the situation for the traditional writing career angle. After the Bullhorn presentation, it finally sunk in just how many people need writers in today’s job market; you’ve just got to know where to look and what to look for. Quite honestly, this has opened up a few new avenues of exploration into the job market.
I would also like to mention that the Mall of America writing job seems absolutely fantastic. I recognize the overall unlikelihood of obtaining it, but I threw my name into the hat along with some of my work. Frankly, it would be an amazing opportunity, not to mention a rather fun one. I’ve been to the Mall of America once before, but I didn’t get to see much of it. Honestly, going back would give me an opportunity to see more of it, as well as potentially gain a great reference for future job opportunities.
As for Bullhorn, I think I’ll also be throwing my name out into the pool of intern candidates. The copywriting position they have listed on their website seems like the most likely one that fits my skillset. I would apply for the social media position, but quite honestly I don’t use social media all that much and therefore don’t know much about it. I feel like that may be an issue for me some time down the road, but I’ll cross that bridge as I come to it.
I realize that this particular post hasn’t really had a point in the traditional sense and has mostly been me rambling for a good three hundred or so words. If I’m being totally honest, I couldn’t really think of an actual topic, and just started writing this hoping that one would come to me as I went. However this wasn’t the case and apologize for the lack of solid structure in this one. Though now that I think about it, I guess the point is what it looks like when an author is working through writers block. In all honesty: not that pretty.
